Daffodil Hotel & Spa Wedding
My first wedding at this stunning spa venue in the Lake District! When I met Nicola & Lee for their venue visit, we about their plans for the day & portrait ideas. I suggested coloured lighting to match the colour theme. Nicola & Lee loved the idea, and here’s a shot of the evening portrait on the wedding day:
I arrived at the Daffodil Hotel & Spa in the morning and shot documentary style photography of Nicola and the girls getting ready. I was able to go and meet the guys too, so got a couple of group photos of the with the surrounding hills providing a great backdrop.
Outdoor Wedding Ceremony at Daffodil Hotel & Spa
Nicola & Lee had been hoping for an outdoor ceremony at their Daffodil Hotel & Spa Wedding, but there were clouds overhead and it looked like it may rain. With it being an August wedding, they’d been hoping for great weather! At the last minute, the hotel staff started setting up the outdoor chairs, so everyone had their fingers crossed it would not start raining as the Nic & Lee exchanged rings!

Nicola and Lee under the Pagoda during their wedding ceremony – at least if it does start raining, the happy couple and the registrars will stay dry!

We decided to prioritise the group photos whilst it’s still dry. I shot this photo of everyone with my Canon fisheye lens so that the backdrop would include the venue and hills.

Look at that sky! We were so lucky the rain had stayed off so far! The couple are hoping for a dramatic rain shot later, and I think it’s highly likely we’ll get the opportunity!

I’d normally do the confetti photo after the main group photo, but with rain imminent, we opted to prioritise the portraits. As soon as we’d completed those, the ushers helped round up guests for the confetti.
Beautiful pastel pink and ivory styling for the wedding breakfast.
