I had not previously been aware that The Gardener on Ashton Lane could be used as a wedding venue, but discovered it had a lovely private dining space that was perfect for a micro wedding.
The bride and groom booked my 1.5hr micro wedding package for photography coverage of ceremony, group photos and a few portraits afterwards.
The couple had used the available letters to make their names for the letter board at the back, which would be in the background of the wedding ceremony.
There was time for a quick couple portrait in front of the name board in the Plant room before the start of the wedding ceremony.
Wedding Ceremony
The wedding guests sat at the wedding breakfast tables in the plant room to watch the ceremony. There’s not a lot of space here, so I stayed in one position at the back of the room throughout the wedding ceremony. It was the perfect position to see everything though.

It had been raining all day, and was still raining when we were scheduled to do the wedding group photos, so guests took shelter under the entrance of The Gardener (which is the location we had intended for this photo anyway), and I stood in the rain. Thankfully, I’d brought an umbrella, and my equipment is weatherproof, so a little rain wasn’t going to be a problem
Couple Portraits
It was pretty cold as well as being wet, so the couple decided a couple of portraits in Ashton Lane would be enough before we headed back to the cosy warmth of The Gardener. I did get a quick autumnal portrait with some greenery and autumn colours – shown below – this was taken in the corner of Lilybank carpark.
