bride and groom during their Wedding Photography at Kilmardinny House Arts Centre

Wedding Photography at Kilmardinny House Art Centre

Last updated:

This was my first wedding at Kilmardinny House Art Centre. The wedding venue is in Bearsden, and has lovely gardens to the from and back, which at other times of year would be awesome for group photos. But, on this cold November day, the couple had decided to keep their guests warm by having group photos inside, and only bracing the chill for the couple portraits.

Group Photos

We decided to use this inside space for the main group photo of everyone to save the guests from getting cold.

Wedding Speeches

I love getting loads of candid photos during the speeches. There was plenty of room in this venue so that always makes it easier to photograph the wedding speeches. One of the guests had epilepsy, so I was avoiding flash use at this wedding. I had great quality lenses that are suitable for low lighting conditions. The lighting in the room was pretty good anyway, it was the perfect balance of atmospheric without being too dark.

Evening Reception

The couple choice of lighting for the first dance and evening reception was awesome. I did use a little pop of flash for the first dance photos, but kept it really low so the guest with epilepsy was still able to enjoy this part of the wedding day. (I had a chat with the guest when I arrived, and before the evening reception so that I could ensure to not trigger an event).
