I was so excited about this wedding! The couple travelled to Glenfinnan from London to have an intimate wedding at St Mary & St Finnan church with a few close friends and family.
I’d not been to Glenfinnan in years, and I did not recall seeing the church, so I made a trip north to the wedding location from Glasgow to check out the best spots for photos.
The view from the church was breathtakingly beautiful. On my recce visit, I sat drinking a coffee watching the light dance on the lochside hills, and hoped for favourable weather on the wedding day.
Wedding Photography at Glenfinnan Church
Below is the view of Loch Shiel from the church. I’d arrived a couple of hours early on the wedding day, so there was plenty of time to wait on the light being just right.
Wedding Ceremony
Although referred to as Glenfinnan Church, the official name is St Mary and St Finnan Church.
Group Photos
We wanted to make the most of this amazing scenery, so the lochside hills and Loch Shiel was the backdrop for the group photos.
Couple Portraits
After the group photos, it was time for couple portraits. I’d agreed to drive the couple to Glenfinnan Viaduct, where were had planned to create some portraits with the famous landmark in the background. But first, a few more portraits of bride and groom at the church!

I walked ahead so that I could grab a few candid photos of bride and groom as they walked down from the Glenfinnan Viaduct.
