Barwheys is a luxury farm venue, available for exclusive use for small, intimate weddings. Set in the stunning Ayrshire countryside, it’s surrounded by rolling hills and the tranquility of the countryside.
I like to arrive early when photographing weddings, as not only does it allow plenty of time for any traffic hiccups, it means I get plenty of time to photograph the venue. On the day of the wedding, the weather was perfect! We were treated to a clear blue sky and sunshine, perfect for the outdoor ceremony the couple had planned.
Wedding Photography
For their wedding photography at Barwheys, the couple had booked 1.5hrs of photography coverage, so that they could have the most important events of the day covered. From this, the couple received 265 edited photos.
Unposed Moments
I was able to capture a few candid moments of the pre-wedding ceremony drinks, before heading to the front of Barwheys to photograph the bride being escorted down the aisle by her dad.
Wedding Ceremony
The wedding guests were arranged either side of the ceremony space, with the couple exchanging vows against a stunning backdrop.
I captured a mix of views, both closer up photos as the couple exchanged rings, as well as a selection of photos showing that stunning scenic countryside backdrop.
The rustic styling worked perfectly with the venue and location.
Confetti and Drinks Reception
After the formalities of the signing of the register, it was time for a confetti throw, followed by a drinks reception where the couple and their friends and family could relax and enjoy canapes in the spring sunshine.
Group Photos
We had to make use of the rolling hills for the group photo backdrop.
Couple Portraits at Barwheys
There’s plenty of options for couple photos at this gorgeous Ayrshire wedding venue. On this day we kept things simple and used 3 locations; the wooded area to the north of Barwheys, the courtyard, and the front of the venue with views of the hills.
Wedding Breakfast in the Granary
The couple and their guests were to have the wedding meal in the Granary space at Barwheys. Whilst I was not staying to photograph the meal, I got a few photos of the room set up before leaving.
I know couples invest so much time in choosing and arranging styling details for the wedding day, so I do try to photograph these if possible.
