This was a shorter coverage wedding of up to 4 hours, where I was providing photography from the wedding ceremony until the pre-wedding breakfast speeches.
During the planning meeting, we’d chatted ideas about wedding day couple portraits, so had planned to visit the historical Great Western Terrace, one of the last works of famed Glasgow architect Alexander ‘Greek’ Thomson and a favourite with the couple.
Wedding Ceremony
The wedding ceremony was in the Glenlivet Room, a bright space with beautiful styling and fireplace. The bride was walked down the aisle by her father and carried a vibrant and colourful bouquet of summer flowers.
After the wedding ceremony, there were drinks in the bar area and after the couple had had a chance to chat with everyone.
Group Photos
I typically use the stairs at No. 5 for wedding day group photos. After confetti, we got a few different combinations of friends and family. This was all planned out in advance. Couples receive a group photo questionnaire, and we then discuss and fine tune this during the planning meeting.
Couple Portraits
After the group photos, we headed along to Great Western Terrace for some portraits of the happy couple. During the planning meeting, they’d specifically asked for some portraits on these stairs. I love how they’re framed with greenery as well as the classic blonde sandstone.
Wedding Breakfast in the Glenlivet Room
The wedding breakfast was also to be in the Glenlivet room. The couple had the table adorned with colourful florals that matched the bouquets. I love the brides reaction when she sees the room all ready for guests. I love getting candid photos of reactions of both couples and their families throughout the day.
As the guests were seated, the couple and I popped outside for a wedding day portrait in front of One Devonshire Gardens, followed by a portrait on the staires outside the Glenlivet room, surrounded by the colourful floral arrangements.
Wedding Speeches in Glenlivet Room
My final task of this wedding day was photographing the speeches. They were all beautifully heartfelt and funny, and I loved hearing the couples story as I photographed guests smiles and natural, candid reactions.
