As a wedding photographer, it’s rare I get to photograph both edgy city portraits and rural scenic vistas on the same day, but this awesome couple had a variety of special and meaningful locations that they wanted to include, so we had both planning meetings and a location visit to ensure the wedding days jam packed schedule went without a hitch.
University of Glasgow Wedding Ceremony
The wedding ceremony was at the stunning University of Glasgow Memorial Chapel.

Couple Portraits at UofG
Couple Portraits at Sloans
Our first stop was Sloans in Glasgow city centre. The couple grabbed a quick drink together whilst I parked my car, and we then got a photo with the infamous ‘Are ye dancin?’ artwork.
Drinks Reception and Party in the Garden
The couple had planned to have their wedding meal and evening reception in their back garden. A catering company provided food, a fire pit kept everyone cosy, and there was a really relaxed and fun vibe. I loved all the wee details the couple had prepared for the garden party.
Guests were treated to canapés and drinks as they chatted in the sun during the garden drinks reception.
Wedding Meal and Speeches
The couple and their wedding guests enjoyed a meal on the patio, followed by speeches.
Couple Portraits at Balgray Reservoir
We had originally been planning to head to this second portrait location before the meal and speeches, but we decided later would look better in the photos. The couple had chosen Balgray Reservoir for some scenic countriside photos. We were so lucky with weather! It was such a gorgeous sunny summer day.
Garden Party First Dance
The happy couple had their first dance on the lawn as wedding guests watched from the patio. A summer solstice wedding was the perfect match for an outdoor garden party evening reception.
Summer Solstice Wedding
Why get married on the longest day of the year? Getting married on the summer solstice is not just great for an evening outdoor party like this couple had planned, but can hold significant meaning as it symbolises the start of a new season and a new chapter.
