Salford Quays Evening Engagement Shoot
Kim and Dan were the 3rd of the Facebook competition winners and their engagement shoot was planned just before sunset, as Salford Quays is a great location for sunset and low light night time photos. We started out at the side of the Lowry Outlet, where the ship canal meets the quays to get some photos of the tree lined path, it was then across the bridge toward to Coronation Street site to get some quirky photos of the couple and to get those all important sunset shots. Kim and Dan aren’t Corrie fans, but they were good sports and posed in front of the sign. As the sun dropped and the lighting kicked in, we headed to the bar in the Lowry Theatre to have coffee and cake whilst waiting for it to get darker. When the light had dropped, we headed round the Lowry Theatre, using this interesting and unusual building as a funky backdrop, and taking in MediaCityUK in the background.
We would loved to have headed over the water to shoot in MediaCityUK, but sadly no photography is allowed onsite for anything other than ‘personal use’ (according to the permit office) however I’m hoping this changes in future as that location would be great for both engagement photos and weddings alike.
We then headed back to the area in front of the Lowry Theatre to get some gorgeous low light night time portraits, followed by some portraits on Salford Quays lift bridge. To see more gorgeous photoshoot in this area, check out my Lowry Theatre page here. This bridge features dramatic lighting that changes colour, so with Kim and Dan being diehard city fans, we patiently waited until the blue lights came on. There is red as well for all you united fans! It’s an attractive bridge for portraits at any time of day but it really is a stunning location at night!
