Wedding Photography at Saint Luke’s & The Winged Ox

Last updated:

This wedding featured full day wedding photography coverage (12-9:30pm), starting at bridal preparations at home, with a church ceremony, a detour via Kelvingrove park for couple portraits with their vintage campervan wedding transport, and the wedding reception at Saint Luke’s & The Winged Ox in the east of the city.

The couple received 885 photos from the 8 hours of wedding photography coverage.

It was so hard choosing highlight photos to share without this article being crazy long. I’ve included links to key parts of the day so you can jump ahead.

Guest Arrival

I love getting a few candid photos of guests arriving.

Wedding Ceremony at St Robert Bellarmine RC Church

The wedding ceremony was at St Robert Bellarmine RC Church in Priesthill. Photography is not always allowed in churches, but the priest was cool with me getting a few photos throughout the ceremony, so I popped a long lens on and stayed at the back of the church so as to not be a distraction.

Couple Portraits in Kelvingrove Park

The couple wanted to visit a few spots in Kelvingrove park that held special meaning to them. We parked up next to Kelvingrove Art Galleries, and from there, got a few portraits next to the galleries, as well as on Kelvin Way. We were blessed with dry weather, which really helped with this part of the day.

Wedding Reception at Saint Luke’s and The Winged Ox

Saint Luke’s & The Winged Ox is a lively eatery and event venue in the East End, with an awesome space for a wedding reception. It’s one of many Glasgow church-to-event-space conversions that are breathing new life and community into grand old buildings. The interior features many architectural details, and a huge organ.

Group Photos at St Luke’s

The front of St Lukes has plenty of space for wedding day group photos, and the stairs at the front help with being able to see everyone. I did still bring ladders, but only needed my small set of ladders for this group photo.

Wedding Speeches

Although the lighting is quite low and atmospheric, the lighting in St Lukes is great for photographing the speeches. The space in the main hall made it easier to get candid photos, as the tables had plenty of room between them.

Couple Portraits at the Barras

After the wedding breakfast, we headed out for a few portraits around the Barras. We were so lucky with the weather. It stayed dry all day, despite the cloudy sky.

First Dance

The lighting in St Luke’s is amazing for a first dance! Combined with the space, the stained glass windows, and the organ backdrop, it’s the perfect space.

Evening Reception and Cèilidh

The couple had decided to have a cèilidh at the start of their evening reception, and the main hall had plenty of space for it.
