Loch Lomond Wedding Photography
Located just over 20 miles from Glasgow, Loch Lomond and The Trossachs National Park is a hugely popular and beautiful location for a wedding. There are a number of wedding venues in Loch Lomond to suit weddings of different sizes, but the scenic mountain views and pretty waterfronts are open to everyone. I've put this quick guide together to help you get the best out of your wedding day and wedding photos.
Hey! I'm Karen! I'm a wedding photographer based in Glasgow and love photographing weddings in scenic Loch Lomond. I specialise in natural, unobtrusive coverage of relaxed and informal weddings. I team this documentary coverage with as many group photos as you'd like with your friends and family, and a few creative portraits that will make the most of the light and the details of your chosen wedding venue. Every package includes a planning meeting and venue visit so that I can personalise your coverage to be the best fit for you and your unique wedding day.
3 Reasons to Choose Loch Lomond for Your Wedding
Whether your wedding attendees are based locally in Glasgow, or visiting from overseas, choosing a wedding venue in Loch Lomond is going to feel special for everyone. Away from the hustle and bustle of the city, you and your guests will be surrounded with scenic landscape views in a location that is easily accessible from Scotlands main cities.
There's a great selection of venues to cater for weddings of different sizes, so whether you're having a small, intimate affair or a laving wedding day with lots of wedding guests, there will be a wedding venue to fit.
The scenery. There are some really pretty portrait locations that are only a short car journey from any of the venues, so having a short car trip to spend some time together on your way to get some stunning portraits can be a great option to consider when planning your wedding day.
Couple Portrait Spots
If you fancy having some time alone together and getting some seriously gorgeous couple portraits, there are a couple of places I'd recommend heading to with your wedding photographer on your wedding day.
1. Firkin Point
Firkin Point is both easy to get to and a little tricky to find. This is a result of their being no sign visible (at time of writing) when travelling from Glasgow, and some SatNavs will take you to an incorrect location. Access is from the main A82 road that runs through Loch Lomond, and there are gorgeous views both north and east.
How to get there: Instead of using the post code on Google (G83 7DL) open Google maps and put the pin on the toilet block at Firkin Point. The carpark is directly opposite, and this should help reduce the chance of you driving by it and then having to drive for ages before you can turn around. Alternatively, use these direct satelite coordinates: 56.170779256895564, -4.677481487449641
2. Not Luss View Point on the Main Pier
Ok, hear me out! Luss pier is incredibly popular for the amazing mountain and loch view backdrop, but as a result, it's crazy busy. There's swimmers, boaters, hyperactive kids with ice cream, wet labradors, and so on. So, whilst we absolutely can go there if you wish, I'd highly recommend a smaller pier to the south of this near Luss Beach which provides the same views but with a quieter vibe. The smaller pier doesn't have a name, but is easy to find opposite the Loch Lomond Rescue Boat office.
How to find it: Don't use the postcode on Google maps or you'll end up at a great quality coffee shop with yummy cakes but no mountain vistas to speak of. Either zoom in on Google Maps to visually find it, or use these satelite coordinates: 56.10078413449431, -4.6354874702803945
The photo above was taken on the main pier at Luss View Point, whereas the photo below was taken at the quieter southern pier.
